The one thing I really noticed last night is that one-on-one, our players couldn't guard a statue. How many times did a K-State player just drive right by our players - SGA, Knox, Diallo - it didn't matter who was guarding them. This team was just a terrible defensive team.

I remember watching a show back in the Pitino days and the coach told how you just stare at a guys waist while on defense and he'll never fake you out. It pretty much works - wherever his waist goes, that where's his body is going. I've never seen players do this in the Calipari era. I always though this was a fundamental concept as far as defense goes, but I guess it isn't.

Paul, I said this in other threads, I have to disagree. You hold a team to 61 points, you should win. Yes we made some mistakes on the defensive end but overall we did ok. Our offense killed us but some of that was defense being played against us.

Gabriel saw our guys not get close enough to the guys shooting 3's and at the end he got too close and blocked the shot but came down on the player. Our ball handling and shooting hurt us more than anything. They all looked like they were sleep walking at the beginning. Although we caught up at the end we were still down the 10 points we needed to get close to 70 because we didn't do anything on their run to 13-1 score. Put another 10 points on our score and we win easily. Like Cal says you have to value each possession and that is one thing this team does not do collectively. There was one person who was not ready for the play too many times last night.
