The biggest immediate concern for Kentucky basketball after Yahoo Sports’ bombshell report Friday about agents paying college players is an alleged dinner/meeting involving freshman star Kevin Knox. But his father tells SEC Country that neither he nor his son ate or met with Christian Dawkins or his boss, former high-profile agent Andy Miller.
“Obviously the investigation is still going on, but the only comment I can say is I’ve never met Christian Dawkins before or Andy Miller, and if they sat next to me at the grocery store, I wouldn’t know who they were,” Kevin Knox Sr. said.
“Out of respect for the NCAA investigation and the University of Kentucky investigation into this, I’d just say that I’ve never met Christian Dawkins or Andy Miller before and leave it at that.”
The University of Kentucky has not responded to a request for comment about the Yahoo report, which claims that former Wildcats Bam Adebayo and Nerlens Noel received payments from Miller’s agency. As for Knox, who is averaging 15.4 points and 5.6 rebounds for UK, his father said he isn’t worried that his son’s NCAA eligibility is in jeopardy.
Asked if his son will play Saturday against Missouri, Knox Sr. said, “As of right now, yeah, because those are just allegations.”
