Our (3) bench players shot and made more free throws than our 5 starters. Our bench players went 4-7 from the line compared to our starters who went 3-6. The starters played 139 minutes compared to our bench players who played for 66 minutes. (73 minutes less than the starters)

Jones played some valuable minutes for us last night, getting two key offensive rebounds that helped us seal the win. Our best two free throw shooters are Green and Alexander, the rest of the team are rather weak in that department and unless they improve their free throw shooting, it could cost us close games as the season moves on. The one player that seems to have made little to no progress since the beginning of the season, on either end of the floor, is Richards. He appears to be regressing. We have no rim protector on this team, opponents are taking us off the dribble and shooting tons of lay ups against our porous defense.

Ed, S. Killeya-Jones played only 12 minutes but in that time he had 5 boards and 3 assists plus 1 basket. He was playing hard, especially on defense.

Richards played the least minutes of any Cat that played. (10) minutes. He went 1-2 from the field, with 1 rebound and 1 foul.

It's quite possible that our best five players are not all starters. If Cal has a problem with slow starts, maybe he needs to look at his lineup. Shai Alexander is our best player right now and he doesn't start. I'm no genius, but I'd probably have him in my starting lineup.

For some reason, Cal insists on starting certain people no matter what. Last year he went with Bam and sat Jones on the bench the last half of the year instead of trying to allow Jones to work on his game in live game action. As a result, we basically had no inside game last year. This year he's doing the same with Richards. Richards has shown flashes of great play, but way too infrequently. Yet he keeps starting.

We had several guys with the flu. Richards was one and he probably didn't want to play much. You could see Washington had a cold but he fought thru it. Alexander was also supposed to be fighting the flu.
