Apparently the FBI are involved in an investigation which involves U of L recruit Bowen out of Indiana. Something fishy here, maybe this will be the end of the Pitino era at U of L, don't see how the university can justify keeping him after all of his scandals. Apparently he has another assistant coach that he cannot control, sounds familiar.
From ESPN: quote:
The FBI complaint against Gatto and others also included a reference to a "public research university located in Kentucky," identified as "University-6" in the complaint, and University of Louisville interim president Gregory Postel confirmed in a statement it is the school mentioned. There was also a reference to a private research school in Florida, and sources told ESPN it's the University of Miami. "Today, the University of Louisville received notice that it is included in a federal investigation involving criminal activity related to men's basketball recruiting," Postel said in the statement. "While we are just learning about this information, this is a serious concern that goes to the heart of our athletic department and the university. UofL is committed to ethical behavior and adherence to NCAA rules; any violations will not be tolerated. We will cooperate fully with any law enforcement or NCAA investigation into the matter." The allegations against the unnamed school in Kentucky include payments of $100,000 from Adidas to the family of an unnamed player, identified as "Player 10," to ensure him signing with the school. Brian Bowen, a five-star recruit, signed with Louisville on June 5. According to the complaint, Gatto, Code, Dawkins and Sood worked together to funnel $100,000 to the player's family, and Dawkins told the others that he did so at the request of a Louisville coach. The FBI said telephone records show Gatto spoke directly with the unnamed coach multiple times in the days before the player publicly committed to play for the Cardinals. The complaint said another high school player was paid to sign with the Cardinals, and Dawkins paid the money by funneling it through Jonathan Brad Augustine, president of The League Initiative and program director of the Adidas-sponsored 1 Family AAU program. quote:

If this proves to be true and the NCAA hits Louisville with anything less than the death penalty than they are, in my opinion, useless.

If the NCAA does not bring the hammer down on this infraction then something is seriously wrong. You have a program (UL) that is already on probation for "Stripper Gate" and now is accused of accepting $100k from Adidas to have a 5-star recruit commit to their program.
UL fans have to be up in arms over this one - the hits keep coming. I am sure they are all wondering "when is enough, enough"?
The fact that Pitino pleads ignorance is laughable. How a head coach of 12 young men cannot know what is going on in his program is beyond me. Ricks track record the last couple years is seriously flawed.
