University of Kentucky freshman center Nick Richards has been fully cleared by the NCAA, his high school coach told FanRag Sports on Thursday. Richards, a five-star big man, committed to play basketball for Kentucky back in November.

The seven-foot, 239-pounder is known for his defensive prowess, but also brings value on both ends of the floor.

The up-and-coming center in Richards, who is originally from Manhasset, New York and played his high school basketball at St. Patrick High School in New Jersey, notably averaged 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and one block per game during what would become his final high school campaign. As is the norm at Kentucky these days, Richards will contribute to the Wildcats as a freshman due both to his length and ability to finish around the rim. It is also worth noting that Richards is widely considered to be No. 2 ranked center in the class of 2017 with only Mitchell Robinson coming in ahead of him for the recruiting cycle.
