True, it's not happening. But I wouldn't shed a tear.

A lot of us would be very sad. Especially when recruiting season rolls around. Yes, we would get some three and four year players for a change, but on the other hand, we'd win less than 70% of our games, and the hue and cry would rival that of the election losers. There might even be protest marches and riots.

Don't see it happening, and even though I don't believe Cal is a great game coach, I would be disappointed. We do need the talent, I just wish he would adjust in games a little better, and have more of a plan when he goes into some games. I am a fan who would like to have it all in my coach, but I know that is a tall order and you can't have everything. My biggest wish is that the NBA and NCAA would get together and say you can go out of high school if you like, but if you go to college you have to stay 2 years. And if a high school kid doesn't get drafted allow him to enroll in college and still play, even if he has to sit out a year, or a semester. After all, it is about what is best for the student athlete, right?

When they announce the new coach we can start a protest movement called 'Not My Coach'.

Caliper has his kid on the team. He will prob retire at Kentucky, even if there is an occasional fan that thinks they can coach better than he can.

Why would fans have anything to do with Cal retiring?

What is your beef with Calipari? I would like to know which coach out there that you would rather have and why.

My beef with Cal is that he has simply turned UK into nothing more than an NBA factory. In my opinion, he coaches these kids to get ready for the NBA, not win a National Championship in college. I would rather have a team that I could watch grow over the course of a couple/few years, not just one year and gone.
With that said, I hope Cal does retire at UK. I just wish he'd change his philosophy and put UK first. And when he does retire, I won't shed a tear because I'm confident someone will come in after him and do a good job. When Cal decides to leave, a coach will come to UK that can win titles. Cal doesn't poop ice cream - he's not the only coach out there that can win.

The reality is that Cal believes theplayers first philosophy is what is best for UK. He believes that this philosophy will bring the best talent to UK, and that by bringing the best talent here, he will have the best chance of delivering championships to UK. Therefore, he celebrates the NBA success of the individual players that come through the program because their success enhances the talent pool that want to play here.
We can all debate and argue whether he is correct in his assessment, but I do not believe that Cal is not coaching to win championships. However, I would argue that his beliefs may be flawed. [ 02-23-2017, 08:32 AM: Message edited by: GA Cat ]
