JMO I think since the NC game with his 47 points he has got to cocky and is a showboat. Don't get me wrong I like the kid and he is good but not playing team ball. This team is going backwards. We were a +10 points by Vegas. No way we should have lost to this team. That makes 2 years in a row at Knoxville we lose. The refs didn't help any last night either a couple times I jumped up out of my chair at the calls. We have no half court offense. I just needed to vent this morning. Living here in VOL Land its tough.

That one call on Gabriel on his tip in from behind the UT player was one of the worst calls I have seen in college basketball this year, absolutely no contact at all. The SEC has some really poor officials and some of their calls are ruining the flow of the games this season. I find myself enjoying college basketball less and less, don't like watching free throw shooting contests. The coaches who are enacting these new rules of officiating are doing a lot of damage to their game and Cal was one of the big advocates of having them clean up the physical play in college basketball, now it is coming back to bite him in the behind.

You are right Problue, teams within the conference are very quickly learning that if you take the fast break away from Ky, you have a very good chance of beating them. They run a terrible half court offense and play little to no defense.

I truly think we would be a better TEAM without Monk on the floor. With Fox, Mulder, Willis, Gabriel and Adabayo on the floor we would be better IMHO. Mulder is better from three and takes better shots than Monk and Mulder rebounds which Monk never does. Defense is a wash.
It appears that Monk is disregarding anything Cal is trying to tell him.

Why doesn't Cal take him out immediately when he does something against what Cal wants? He sure does it with other players. Monk can be a great player, but Cal has to get him to buy in to defense, and good shots. When we move the ball quickly we are at our best. 1 pass to a contested 3 is not going to cut it.

Well well, other people se it also. Everything stated above I was telling myself out loud during the game last night. Team play is only occurring part of the time. Monk has too many shots that are way off target because he is firing away all the time. It appears Cal has given him the green light. The team defense has not gotten to where it needs to be. When they get behind in the final minutes they may decide to tighten up. One problem that Monk has is he doesn't want to throw it to Bam. But I can see the problem there. Bam can't hold onto it if he is too far to reach up and dunk it. He has bad hands and he moves slow. Cal wants it to go in and the players are afraid Bam will lose it. A lot of these guys may go in the draft but some of them will be disappointed when they don't get picked. Briscoe had some good numbers last night but when you subtract the number of bad decisions he made trying to drive it hurts that total. They were just gathered underneath waiting for him to bring it. Unless we get better than what we are showing now we'll lose a few more games when we start out so slow as we did last night.
