I heard an interesting commentary from Rex Chapman on the pre game show about the ref in general and Doug Shouwes in particular.
Rex talked about how the NBA refs are the best at their craft and how they are all in great shape. He said the College refs are over weight and not in shape. He used Showes as an example. He said he blows his whistle more when he gets tired and out of breath, making calls when he is not in position and doesn't consult with the other guys who may have a better view.
So, I am in the arena a looking at the refs and wondering if they can keep up with the pace of the game, while the action is going on.
