Adebayo gets off the ground effortlessly. He not only does not look like a freshman, he doesn’t play like a freshman. The amount of space Adebayo takes up on the court swallows the paint. Offensively, he has the strength to establish position consistently and he can back his way down toward the basket if he desires. Defensively, he’s quick enough to poke away entry passes and can switch off with guards. All were on display Tuesday.
Malik Monk has impressive upper body strength and he gets to the lane with authority. Standing at 6-foot-3 with elite speed Monk is going to be a difficult matchup defensively as is. Throw in his strength and it only gets tougher. Monk has shown in practice that when he drives to the bucket there’s a good chance he’s getting two points. It doesn’t hurt that he seems to hang in the air when he jumps – whether it be for a jumper or at the bucket – and finishes more times than not. He finished with both hands Tuesday.
Like Monk, De’Aaron Fox also finishes well through contact when he drives to the rim. Fox also has great handles at the point guard position, and once again displayed his quickness and athleticism all practice.
