Bamba also said recently that Calipari has compared him to Anthony Davis, who led UK to the national title in 2012 before becoming the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

Bruce, 24/7 Sports says Duke is in the lead for this player. Their article:

quote:

"It means the world to me," Bamba said of the comparison. "I spoke to Anthony Davis at skills [camp] and we spoke briefly and we did film session. To see what he did at Kentucky and what he does in the NBA now is amazing." Bamba, who is ranked No. 2 overall in the 2017 class by the industry-average 247Sports Composite, has continued his dominance at Peach Jam this week. With Calipari courtside, Bamba posted 21 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks in Wednesday night's opener, an 89-79 win over South Beach. He followed that up with 20 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks in a 74-69 victory against CIA Bounce. Bamba says he's looking for a school that can maximize his potential as a player. "When I was coming up as a basketball player, all I heard was the word 'potential.' After a while, potential needs to turn into production," Bamba said. "I think if I can channel my potential into actual production at the collegiate level, I should be ready for the NBA." He also mentioned being able to play multiple positions, something Calipari has championed in recent years. "Being able to play multiple positions," Bamba said, "it's been part of his pitch." Kentucky has some catching up to do, according to Bamba's 247Sports Crystal Ball, where Duke is considered the heavy favorite

Having the ability to play 2 different positions well is a big plus Bamba and the Cats.

Bruce, I feel quite sure Duke would offer him the same option of playing different positions. I hope we get this young man but it does bother me when I read that Duke is the favorite as they seem to be becoming in so many of these 5 star recruits we too cherish. Just look at the latest Duke/Ky recruiting contest of the center from Texas who supposed wanted to come to UK but his parents wanted him to go to Duke???

We are due to get "one" of coach K's locks and hopefully it will be Bamba.
