Author Topic: Cals idea of a SEC tournament in November just might happen catmandoo Player Member # 1284 posted 06-05-2016 09:32 AM                     Apparently John Calipari has turned his wacky idea of playing the Southeastern Conference Tournament in November into a more realistic possibility of getting something he has wanted for years — a tourney title game on Saturday instead of Sunday. The thinking would be that way the NCAA Tournament selection committee would have time to weigh the tourney results more heavily in favor of the tourney champion. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey calls Calipari a “creative thinker” and says he would not totally rule out moving the tourney championship game to Saturday. That would hopefully give the NCAA Tournament selection committee more time to weigh the impact of the championship game in its tourney seedings. This is not a new idea. I can still remember coach Billy Donovan making the same suggestion years ago when he was at Florida but then SEC boss Mike Slive wanted no part of that because of TV dollars and hotel revenue for the host city. That would be good for the conference in my opinion. We got screwed last year, beat Texas A&M for the championship but got a 4 seed and A&M got a 3 seed, that was not right.
