Kentucky men’s basketball freshman forward Skal Labissiere has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft, he announced Tuesday. Labissiere plans to sign with an agent, which would effectively end his career at UK.
Labissiere will forego his future eligibility and enter his name in the upcoming NBA Draft, to be held June 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
“I want to thank my family, my coaches, teammates and most importantly I want to thank God for the opportunity that he gave me to represent and play for the University of Kentucky,” Labissiere said. “I also want to thank the fans for their support through everything this season. I am excited to announce that I am entering the 2016 NBA Draft.”
Last week, freshman guard Jamal Murray announced his intentions to stay in the 2016 NBA Draft. Senior forward Alex Poythress is also eligible for the draft.
Labissiere will depart from UK after helping Kentucky to a 27-9 season that included a share of the Southeastern Conference regular-season title and the SEC Tournament championship. The Wildcats made the NCAA Tournament as a four seed.

See ya, Skal. If you make it past a year in the League, you'll have a career of being manhandled by bigger, stronger guys.
Another year or 2 in school would have done wonders for him, but, bright side...maybe Bolden has been waiting to see this.

I disagree. Skal has talent that a lot of other big men don't have. They can put good weight and muscle on him a lot easier than they can teach those other 7 footers how to shoot a jumper.

They'll build him up. It may take a while but he will probably end up a 4 in the NBA due to his shooting. Plus he can buy his mother a new home.

Most other 7 footers are post players. They usually come into the league muscled up. You're right, they can't shoot anything past 5' out, but they're rarely asked to. Based on that argument though, Wiltjer should have a nice long NBA career.

Wiltjer can shoot lights out, but he moves on the court like he is wearing concrete shoes. I wish Wiltjer well, but would surprised if he makes it, because he is so slow. I could be wrong and he could play a lot of years in the league. I still think he has to get quicker.

I'm very happy for Skal and think this the smartest thing for him to do. The NBA drafts on potential and I hope Skal continues to develop. I can't begin to understand how this financial income will help he and his family!

Skal has all the tools to develop and see no reason why he can't and is going to make a boatload of money in the NBA.
