Alex Poythress is close to making his long-awaited return to action, possibly even as soon as tomorrow night when Alabama comes to town. UK assistant coach Tony Barbee said Poythress will “resume activities” today, although Barbee isn’t sure of Alex’s status for the game.

The injury news isn’t as positive on the Derek Willis front. Willis was spotted on crutches without putting any weight on his injured right ankle. Barbee couldn’t offer an update, but I can’t imagine Willis being able to go anytime soon.

We are going to need him that's for sure, hopefully he has recovered quickly as I am sure Cal wished he had another week or two to get Poy in better game condition.

Poythress sure looked pretty well healed and good to see him back on the court.

Poythress had a great outing last night. Especially considering the limited number of minutes he played!

He sure looked like he could have played more minutes and that is a very good sign.

I thought Cal playing him for like 5 minutes at a time and then pulling him out for a rest was a masterful piece of game management.
