Florida has a new coach in Mike White but a look much like what the Gators had under former coach Billy Donovan, who won two national titles at Florida and is now coaching in the NBA.
“He probably went in and said, ‘You know what? A lot of this stuff is really good and worked. If it’s good for those players.’ And he knows Billy was a really good coach,” Calipari said Friday. “A lot of the stuff is some of the same thing and actions.
“Defensively and rebounding, the stuff he’s doing is old school. They’re doing a little phantom press, but the rest of the stuff is in the half-court. (Florida) is giving you one tough shot. If you think you’re driving it, then you’re driving it on five. It you think you’re posting it, swinging the ball and driving, then you’re doing it on five. They all rebound.
“He’s doing a good job. I think now they’re buying in. They’re building their confidence. We’re playing a team that’s playing as well as they’ve played all year.”

We are not playing our best basketball which is not a good scenario however things can change in a hurray especially playing in front of all our devoted fans.

I think we did let of the gas. That is our mo with Cal when we get a big lead. I get "salting it away", but I can't stand to watch us with a big lead. We scored 10 points in the last 9+ minutes of the game, and two of these were threes. We scored 20 in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd. I wish they would be allowed to continue to play good , smart basketball. I hate when we pass it around as Ullis or Murray run off picks, and then with 10 or less in the shot clock we finally look for a shot. Trust the guys to know how to play smart basketball, and get good shots within the offense. I am really glad we won, and Ullis and Murray wee amazing. We just have to have some kind of an inside game. If we are off from outside, we are done for.

I do need to say I loved the first 30 minutes of the game as we looked good. It's amazing what making shots does. I also thought the defense was very solid today. Did much better than the tenn game.

We always have to remember, though, our opponents have the potential for going on a run. I mean, Florida isn't a terrible team. We all knew that their FG % would come up a little from 27% early. You just have to be able to hang on and survive the run!

We went Ice Cold for over 5 minutes at around the 9 minute mark in the second half too!

I don't mind trying to take time off the clock, but we can't wait until the shot clock is at 5 seconds to start running the play. We've had way too many shot clock violations thsi year.

Our defense was really good today. Florida was just 2-9 from trey land before that desperation shot at the halftime buzzer to go 3-10

It's hard to imagine a player his age shooting that good against all the shooter we have had at Kentucky since the beginning of the 3 point line.
