Senior Alex Poythress had perhaps his best overall game since his freshman season with his scoring, defense and court savvy against Louisville Saturday. Here's part of what he had to say after the game.
On what the team learned about themselves …
“We just have to play with energy every game and just compete all the time. If we play like this every game, we won’t lose many games. Energy was great from start to finish. The bench was into it, we were into it, the coaches were into it. We just have to keep on sustaining that.”
On how he sees the unpredictability of one player stepping up every game …
“I just see it as we’re just trying to compete and trying to win games here.”
On if his dunk early in the game ignited him …
“Yeah because I didn’t notice how open the zone was. We were doing plays and Tyler said ‘I’m just going to throw it to you because it’s open.’ And I was just trying to make plays in the middle of the zone.”
