I would hope they have all their ducks in a row if they do declare him ineligible. After the Kantor case I would think there would be some court (lawyers and a judge type action) action pending.

It's not a good sign but counting on Cal wouldn't have signed him if he thought Skal was going to have NCAA issues. I would have thought he would have cleared it with the NCAA first.

Bruce, he signed Kanter without having him cleared, that is what scares me so much about Skal. [ 10-13-2015, 12:18 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

Sometimes you have to wonder if Cal even thinks about eligibility issues. You also have to wonder why our athletic department doesn't take more part in recruiting and looking into all recruits credentials and past eligibility records.

Guys, look at the source of this "story". It is some young Australian beat writer. You seriously think a) he has any connections to an NBA exec who is going to talk to him and b) whatever "exec" (if anyone, probably a pUKe fan who works in the kitchen of an NBA team's commissary) he supposedly spoke to knows anything about Skal's eligibility?
This guy is not connected and he is a Ben Simmons fan (who is from Australia and Skal is projected as his primary competition for the number 1 draft pick next year). This guy knows no more than anyone of us do. Seth Greenberg has already called him out and mocked his "source".

They do. Sandy Bell use to work in the compliance department at the NCAA and she is literally the best in the business. While she is not perfect and cannot always predict what the NCAA will do (it would be easier to predict the exact path of an active tornado, as the tornado is more consistent than the NCAA), she is the best there is.

Every player is signed before they are cleared. You can't be cleared until after you graduate, etc.

I am not so naïve to not know that all are signed prior to being cleared by the NCAA. And Sandy Bell certainly knows the odds on all who are signed becoming elgible, she is the one that reviews transcripts and submits the paper work. She cannot control side attractions like the Kanter situation where he had played professionally. At least Skal has not played professionally as far as we know, that was not the case with Kanter. You forgot to mention that the NCAA is also far more destructive than any tornado on record.

According to Matt Jones (like him or not) UK is NOT worried about Skal as Matt was told this from someone close to the program. I do believe that as Matt has more contacts inside the program that anyone that I am aware of. Coach likes him (matt) so I 98.9% sure that he will be cleared to play within the next week to ten days.

You are right ED, Matt does know what is going on inside UK basketball and most other sports, he is the current Oscar Combs of yesteryear when it comes to our programs at UK. I follow his KSR every day, some good reading there.
From today's KSR report.
The Skal Labissiere eligibility concerns are becoming a little more concerning as more and more reports come out. While UK is still confident Labissiere will be cleared in time for the season, we can’t overlook what is currently being reported on the internet.
The latest comes from Gary Parrish at CBSSports.com, who has learned the NCAA interviewed Labissiere’s AAU coach just this week. The interview was conducted to look into allegations of possible misconduct by Gerald Hamilton, Labissiere’s guardian here in the States.
Jack Britton, the NCAA’s Assistant Director of Amateurism, Complex Case Review, called former Memphis AAU coach Keith Easterwood on Monday and asked a variety of questions about Labissiere’s guardian, Gerald Hamilton, whom Easterwood has known for years. Britton subsequently followed up with an email that Easterwood provided to CBS Sports.
Two of the questions Britton asked Easterwood via email are:
— “Has Mr. Hamilton ever texted you asking for your help in finding someone that could advance Mr. Hamilton a sum of mony related to Skal Labissiere?”
— “Did Mr. Hamilton ever inquire to you about how he could procure a ‘shoe’ deal for Skal Labissiere?”
Easterwood told CBS Sports last November that Hamilton, after realizing the potential of Labissiere, once called and asked, “How can I make money off of a basketball player?” [CBSSports.com]
Parrish wrote about Hamilton and potential trouble with Labissiere’s eligibility around this time last year, before Labissiere committed to Kentucky. Even then it was clear an NCAA investigation would come, and here it is.
For now, we can only trust UK’s confidence in its own investigation into Labissiere and Hamilton. It’s been two months since Calipari addressed the issue, but that will change tomorrow morning when he speaks at UK Basketball Media Day. [ 10-13-2015, 05:03 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]
