Calipari said Tuesday that when he was hired as head coach at Massachusetters, he did his first press conference at the old Hall of Fame.
“The new Hall of Fame, I've been into four, five, six times. So, you know, it's surreal based on the fact that I've been there when different people were inducted and was in awe of the whole setup. Then all of the sudden you turn around and, you know, it's happening to me,” said Caclipari.
He expects to have friends from his coaching days at UMass and Memphis there as well as friends from PIttsburgh.
“Friends from here in Kentucky are coming up, so there's going to be ... there will be a lot of people there,” he said. “See, it's different. When you're a player, yeah your team mattered — it mattered — but none of that matters. You had to perform yourself, and then your team had to do well and then you have and opportunity for this. As a coach, it's all based on everybody else. It's based on the kind of staff you had. How about this? It's based on the kind of jobs you had.

Calipari will have Larry Brown, Julius Erving and Pat Riley as Hall of Fame presenters. It's also great to see Louie Dampier is being inducted also and have Dan Issel being his presenter.
The Class of 2015 inductees includes 39-year NBA referee Dick Bavetta, three-time College Coach of the Year John Calipari, four-time NBA All-Star Spencer Haywood, eight-time NBA All-Star Dikembe Mutombo, seven-time NBA All-Star Jo Jo White, three-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie, ABA superstar Louis Dampier, Early African-American Pioneer of the game John Isaacs, acclaimed Australian player and coach Lindsay Gaze, 2-time NBA Champion coach with the Celtics Tom Heinsohn and Nike’s Director of International Basketball and former college coach George Raveling.

How is that going to work out, Cal taking his players to the induction ceremony? The NCAA won't even let schools buy a kid a bus ticket to attend a funeral of a family member.

Sure makes you wonder doesn't it? If they allow this because it makes them look good is not a logical answer. But the truth hurts.

Kentucky has a whole Compliance Office to handle all situations like this. It's headed up by Sandy Bell and you can bet they know exactly what they can and can not do. If it is against NCAA rules to have the team at the ceremony they will "not" be there.
