Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports has UK ranked #5 in his preseason poll. I think that is about right. He also has Indiana at #12. Not so sure about that one, nor the fact that he does not rank LSU in the top 25. They are going to beat some people this year, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we could be among them.

I personally prefer to start the season out of the top slot and am happy to see us rated this high. I hope our team can live up to what the media and us as fans are expecting from next years version of our Cats. [ 05-17-2015, 07:27 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

UK at 5 is fine by me, but IU at 12? I don't buy that at all.

As long as they are in the top 20 starting out is fine with me. Loosing the first game of the season might even shut the 40/0 folks up early. Going into the NCAA Tournament with about 5 losses is what I would shot for so they will have more fight to them than last season.

I'm with Gunny, this is going to be a team with some youth and it's going to take some time to get to the point where we are a tournament ready team. That doesn't mean we won't make a run for the NCAA championship because we do have some very good experienced talent mixed in with the newbies. Cal just needs time to get them all on the right page. It's been easy of late with all the supper talent we have had but this team has it's advantages too.

He took a team that started 5 freshman to the final four just 2 years ago!

Cal at Kentucky has won a National Championship in 2012 too and a 190-38 record (83.3%). He has sent 18 players to the NBA not even counting the players that will be going this year.
