Kentucky’s chances with five-star center Stephen Zimmerman don’t look great right now. Jerry Meyer’s sources say Zimmerman will commit to UNLV any day now, and yesterday, he canceled all of his scheduled in-home visits.
That means Kentucky’s best shot to recruit him lies on the shoulders of their three signees at this weekend’s Jordan Brand Classic. Apparently, Skal Labissiere is already giving it his best shot. According to Adam Zagoria, Zimmerman says Skal Labissiere is trying to get him to come to Kentucky. In fact, Skal told Zagoria that he’s also recruiting Jaylen Brown and Malik Newman. Keep it up, Skal.

Zimmerman is pretty much a lock for UNLV or a outside chance on Arizona but you can never count Cal out.

Can't blame a kid for staying home. When it was reported that he cancelled all of his in home visits, he had made up his mind and it already leaked that he was staying home. I wish him the best.

Could be a girlfriend issue. Not anything I've heard, but I've seen young men think with their other head before! One of my grandsons dropped out of WKU for that reason.

I also wonder if Kyle Wiltjer transferring has any affect on tall white kids not choosing UK. I don't know how Zimmerman compares to Kyle as far as basketball skills, so I'm just throwing this out here without much knowledge.

Paul, I don't know whether it played any role in the Zimmerman case but do know for a fact that it is one of the primary reasons Luke Kennard chose to go to Duke rather than UK after spending his entire life as a UK fan.

There are exceptions but I believe minutes has a lot to do with what school most recruits go. If they see a good player playing their position it has to be a concern on their choice.

It's a good thing that don't happen in football or teams who have only 1 QB would be up a creek if he got hurt.
I saw where Kennard stated that UK quit recruiting him. I'm sure we are never going to know when when UK quits recruiting a top player but I'm sure it happens for one reason or another.

I sure would like to know why we stopped recruiting him if that was really the case. Duke got a good one it will pay off for them big time.
