Kudos to Alabama for swinging for the fences. According to CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish, Alabama athletic director Bill Battle is on his way to Kansas to meet with Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall. Parrish cites sources that say Alabama is prepared to offer Marshall “piles of money, an athletic department with a culture of winning and every resource he needs to compete with anybody on a national level.”

I think Wichita St. will lose him this time, it may not be Alabama, but could be Texas, or even the long shot Vols. But big money talks.

I'd like to see him at Alabama. I think he could get that program on the right track.

It would be a big addition to the SEC and make Bama a much better team.

I would say Bama has a good shot at getting Marshall away from Wichita State. Marshall is originally from South Carolina and most of his coaching prior to Wichita State was in the south. I do hope the see the SEC going after some of these higher profile, established coaches like Barnes and Marshall. But Texas might have deeper pockets when it comes to Marshall. I would venture to say he goes to either Texas or Bama, those are the two highest profile schools needing coaches for basketball. [ 03-30-2015, 06:21 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

The SEC needs to get some high profile coachs as basketball has gone down hill the past few years. Florida didn't even have a good season this year.

And I don't expect a lot of improvement in Florida next year. I see where Frazier is entering the draft and he was their most consistent player. They lose a lot off this team and are not able to restock like Cal can at UK. Billy gets more mileage out of older players than he does the younger ones. Walker and Hill have not lived up to their high school expectations and apparently never will.

If Bama pulls this off, it will be great for the SEC. Hope it happens.

I read where he met with Alabama yesterday but we will just have to wait to see where he will end up. It sounds like he has options so he has some thinking to do on where he think his best opportunity is.
