Great idea and hope it happens if we win today.
Joe B. Hall understands the rich history and tradition of Kentucky basketball about as well as anyone currently walking this earth. He played for Adolph Rupp, then coached under him, then succeeded him.
He led the Wildcats to one of their eight NCAA championships. He coached three of the teams with banners hanging at Rupp Arena. Making a Final Four is the minimum requirement for that honor when you're talking about the winningest program in college basketball history.
Consider all of that, and then this, as top-ranked Kentucky (30-0) attempts to finish the first undefeated regular season by a major-conference team in 39 years with a win over Florida on Saturday: If the Cats complete the feat, even if they're subsequently bounced before the national semifinals, Hall says raise them to the rafters.
"I think you could create another category deserving of having a banner, and that would be going through the regular season undefeated," the former UK coach said. It's that big a deal. "They've passed the eye test, regardless of what happens next. I think they're the most talented, deepest team I've ever seen. Regardless of what their record comes out, I don't think that diminishes what this team has accomplished as far as its place in the history of Kentucky basketball."

In 112 years It's never been done before. If it happens it will be a historic mo ment in KY B-Ball history!

WHEN WE SAY ITS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE DO WE MEAN AT KY, 53 54 TEAM DID IT, WICHITAH ST. UNLV, INDIANA UNLV, DID IT, I DONT UNDERSTAND AND DONT SAY MID MAJOR CAUSE UNDEFEATED IS UNDEFEATED.

I'm talking about UK history, not NCAA history. But if you want to talk NCAA History, no team since the shot clock/three pt line has given up a lower % scoring defense in the Nation!

I'm just saying they never won 31 games in a season. That's how special this accomplishment is. I'm not knocking a single thing Rupp did! He laid the foundation of what this program is today!

MHamilton, they never played 31 games back in 1954. Had they, there is no doubt that that very special team would have won them all. What this team did is very special also. The 54 team would have won a national championship had not the NCAA passed a one year rule to keep Hagan, Ramsey and Tsoropolous out of the tournament because they were graduate students who had not used up their college eligibility. That special NCAA rule never applied to any other school other than Kentucky because is was enacted by the NCAA for the one year, 1953-54. They invited Ky to the NCAA but they would have had to play without the three All Americans and Coach Rupp would not accept that. Just look at the NBA careers Hagan and Ramsey had, they truly were very special players just like this group of kids we have this season at UK.
