He is and has been so special and has the tools to even be better.

Many fans questioned the recruitment of Tyler Ulis because of his size. He was not the typical Calipari point guard. Many thought he would get limited playing time coming off the bench to give Andrew Harrison a rest. Then the Bahamas happened. Fans took notice of his high energy, quickness, passing and ability to see the whole court. He immediately became a fan favorite and leader of the white platoon.

At the end of Tyler’s eighth grade year he stood 5’3″. Coach Mark Taylor watched Tyler’s game develop throughout his high school career. “He was always the smallest player on the team but he studied the game and welcomed competition. He is creative with the ball and plays unselfishly, a true team player, He plays with confidence and always gives 100 percent,” said Taylor. Taylor also had a message to Kentucky fans, “You’ve just seen the tip of the iceberg of Tyler’s game.”

A year ago Tyler was playing games at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago. This Saturday he will be playing point guard for the number one team in the nation at the United Center. His family and friends will be able to see him play on the same floor that a legend called home. Tyler is truly living a dream made possible by hard work, dedication and never giving up even when the odds are against you.

Evidently Tyler is suffering from some wear and tear on his legs. He's having to put Ice/Heat on his lower legs before and after practice. Could be shin splints.

Shin splints are not fun and they don't go away easy. I remember having them in high school and the pain is unbearable at times.

Shin splints are very common especially because all the starting and stopping in basketball. There is not much you can do for them and rest is the best healer plus icing down as much as possible.

They seem more common in basketball than football from pounding the hard wood!

The good thing is we have great trainers and coachs that take preventative precautions so it doesn't happen. I can't remember any of our players having any problems with shin splints since Cal has been here.

It could very well be just an individuals body break down, just like tearing an ACL. A lot of players have torqued their knees or twisted and what not, but not every one of them tears a ligament!

The coachs have Tyler's problem under control and have rested him an used a lot of ice on his legs. They know what they are doing and bring him back slowly. When he get his usual minutes you can guarantee he in good shape. Hopefully he will be prominent in the UCLA game in front of all his Chicago fans.

The way they were working on his legs when he came out it looked to me like cramps. Or maybe not.

I saw a picture earlier today on twitter that showed ice pack bandaged to the front of one of his legs. I don't remember which leg it was bandaged to!

Old Norm didn't play any sports in school. I was always the littlest guy in class. I could still shoot free throws though!

I played basketball till my freshman year. I fouled out of every game even though I lead the teamin rebounding at 14 a game. Our Freshman coach was also the head football coach.
He talked my parents into letting me play football. I played Fullback and LIne backer in high school.
