I hate this platoon system but I guess I should quit complaining. After all it pretty well mirrors society in America today.
No matter how hard you play or practice, no matter what your skill level is, you'll get the same amount of minutes as everyone else. Kind of like being in a union, doesn't matter how hard you work or what your skill level is, you get the same pay and benefits as everyone else.
I would love to see if Ulis/Booker could push the Harrison twins for a starting job or get more playing time. I could say the same for several other players and match ups on this great team. Oh well, we'll never know. After all, every kid in America should get a trophy just for participating.
No one will ever be able to convince me that all the players in each position have the same ability nor that they all put out the same amount of effort as their teammates. It would take tough coaching decisions to name starters and determine who should get more playing time than others. But as a fan, that is exactly what I would like to see. I sure hope the numerous players on this team that are NBA bound don't go in expecting equal playing time just for being drafted.
I believe there are other and better ways to get players adequate playing time rather than mass substitutions at a preset time in the game.
Coach Cal and numerous posters on this board have forgotten more basketball than I know. That doesn't change the fact that I hate the platoon system but love the team.

You're not realizing that what you want is actually happening, under disguise. When guys got fouls today like Andrew, Johnson and Towns the guy on the other team took his place for a while. I don't believe Towns got 20 minutes. I believe if Cal went with a first team and gave them twice the minutes that the second team got there would be friction on the team. The way it is now if you don't play like you should or you make stupid fouls your counterpart will get some of your minutes. And just watching it I can see that some of the younger guys are better than their older counterpart. Andrew watched that happen today in the first half and he came out trying act just like Ulis in the second half. I like watching Cal maneuver guys in the ending of each half to get the best guys on the floor for the particular situation. I think it will be here for a long time and we might as well get used to watching it.

You'll not hear me complaining as long as it goes the way it is going. We are 7 games into the regular season, and undefeated. Ranked #1 in the country in all polls, and our lowest winning margin is 20. What does it take to make you guys happy?

Box score with minutes played. Willie led all players with twenty five minutes.

I agree if things keep going like it has why mess with it. If things change Cal will make adjustments.

I think Coach is happy with what he's doing. If these boys continue to play as a unit. Win big games. I don't see it changing any time soon.

MH, I agree as long as things keep going well Cal will continue doing what he is doing. If it isn't broke don't fix it. If things go south though he will adjust accordingly.
