We were ice cold no doubt about that and all the shots were pretty much uncontended.
Kentucky coach John Calipari hopes going 0-for-10 from the field to start Sunday’s win over Montana State taught his team a lesson.
“I mean, every team is going to play us basically how they did. They’re going to sag in a zone, or they’re going to sag in a man,” said Calipari. “And so we came out and weren’t — like everybody looked confused. So now we’re taking 3’s, and then, all of a sudden, you miss them and it’s contagious.
“We score one point in the first four minutes. Come on, are you kidding me? Now we were good enough to hold them to two, but that’s ridiculous. And again, we have got to work on that. We can’t start games like that.
“We could have been down 10-1 to a good team and now all of a sudden you’re scrambling.”

I totally agree with Coach on this topic. I am really starting to get concerned about the shooting percentages of this team, we must improve our shooting statistics, free throw shooting, three point shooting and lay up type shots by our inside players.

Thanks goodness that this was Montana State and not someone like a Wisconsin, Duke, UNC as we would have dug a fairly deep hole to pull out of. I'm hoping this was a start that was a one time thing.

THIS TEAM WILL SEE ZONES ALL YEAR LONG CAUSE WE ARE NOT A GOOD SHOOTING TEAM, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SHOOTING 3 POINT SHOTS ANYWAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHOOTING LAYUPS, AGAINSTA HIGH SCHOOL TEAM.

G-B, I think it's good practice to have shot 3's last night as making uncontended dunks all night doesn't help that much but that's just my opinion.

That is a weakness of a young team. When a team packs it in on them, they settle for jump shots. Unless we start shooting 50% or more from the floor you're going to see a lot of teams pack it in tight on us.

We are going to face zones all season so I'm sure we are working hard in practice to attack the different zones we may see. The good thing we do have some shooters who are zone busters.

Some times our zone busters are streaky. Aaron went forever last night before he finally hit a three. Andrew actually hit a three before Aaron did. Trey was another that struggled to hit one last night. But these boys are shooters and they keep on putting them up!
