It looks like school is not out on recruiting completely and we will just have to wait and see.
Long-time Kentucky fan Hugh Ward of Las Vegas follows recruiting closely, especially with west coast players. Like some others, he worries that constant “Calipari to the NBA” rumors, quotes and stories could be impacting recruiting.
“Even though he signed a new contract, he keeps talking about coaching LeBron James, how he would like to coach ex-UK players in the NBA, etc. Never once since signing his contract extension have I seen where he says ‘I have five-year contract at UK,’” Ward said.
“Some of the guys I talk with have asked if he will leave after this year, or be at UK for two years. In my opinion, he is flirting a bit with some issues — losing potential recruits because he continues to leave the door open to the NBA.
“Why doesn’t he just not discuss the NBA, and answer ‘I am UK’s basketball coach, and have a five-year contract,’ at least?”
Agree or disagree? Do the constant mentions of the NBA potentially take away from UK’s recruiting, or just add to Calipari’s resume with potential recruits?

I think it does. And Cal is the one that is responsible for these rumors if they truly are rumors. I have never understood his love affair with Lebron James and wanting to coach him. I do fear we will start seeing a major recruiting drop off unless Cal starts talking about his long term commitment to UK. Cal is all about Cal and loves to hear his name on the news or read it in print and I fear that more than anything will cause a decline in Kentucky basketball unless he puts his huge ego to bed and starts being UK and nothing but UK basketball. This topic is getting a head of steam from many media sources and I personally feel there will be some bad fallout from it. Cal needs to step up and do what that article says or other coaches are going to use that to out recruit him with the top players. [ 07-31-2014, 03:17 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

imo cal is starting to think he is bigger than uk, he acts like a politician, in which I think he will be someday. Cal and Lebron james are 2 of a kind they both are struck on themselves.must be something in that dust Lebron throws up in the air before game starts.
