The imagination runs high on a lot of options on just who might show up for the game. Any guesses? Could be Lebron and a couple of his good friends?
Kentucky coach John Calipari never lacks for creativity or intrigue.
The 3rd annual UK Alumni Charity Basketball Game will be Sunday, August 24, and will have a different format this year after last year’s game was touted as the 2010 UK team versus the 2012 national championship team.
This year the game is being called UK vs. Non-UK Pros.That gives Calipari and UK a lot of wiggle room to line up a team to play a group of Kentucky standouts. Calipari could use his NBA connections — or what about his connections to former Memphis stars Tyreke Evans and Derrick Rose — to fill the opponent’s roster. And isn’t Calipari friendly with a player named LeBron James?No starting time for the game has been announced, but having it on a Sunday could make it a lot easier for more fans to attend. And the game will be the week before UK opens the football season and give Calipari a chance to give coach Mark Stoops’ team a preseason push.
