It's a big decision and don't blame them for taking their time but in the end I think they will realize that now is the time.

While many assume that Kentucky freshman James Young is already set to put his name into the NBA Draft, his godfather insists that is not accurate.

“If you go through all this, I think you have been through every emotion possible and I am sure Kentucky fans feel the same way. Then if you have player on the team, it is just magnified even more,” said Sean Mahone, Young’s godfather. “But I love all the tradition and experiencing that run this team made was fantastic.

“We feel blessed. Everybody wants to be part of the championship game experience. That means you might not be on the right end of the final game, but who wouldn’t rather be there with a chance than not even being in the game. Honestly for us, right now it has been such an emotional roller coaster ride and we are seeing so much through James’ eyes. We are not rushing to make any decisions.”

Young is projected a a mid-first round pick by most mock drafts but seems to be projected as a first-round choice in every mock draft after averaging 14.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for UK this year. He made 82 3-point shots — the second highest freshman total behind Brandon Knight’s 87. His 573 points were the sixth most by a UK freshman — ahead of Anthony Davis and two behind DeMarcus Cousins.

But we have no complaints over anything from this year. He can come back to Kentucky and that would be great or if he is evaluated (by the NBA) and can do what he has dreamed about, that would be great.”

Mahone has heard and seen reports about players not caring about academics or the national championship. He says both are untrue.

“Some things you don’t forget or ignore. If James was not playing basketball, I would say the same thing about his education and why he needs it. The University of Kentucky gave our boy a scholarship and with that came a lot of accountability and responsibility on the court but also in the classroom,” Mahone said.

I'd be really surprised if Young stays in college. I don't see how his NBA stock will ever improve from right now.

I don't know. I think Young has a lot of room for improvement. About the only thing he did right this year was hit a bunch of 3-pointers. His defense was terrible. His free-throw shooting wasn't anything to write home about. His decision making skills were pathetic. I think if he came back and improved his all-around game he could be a lottery pick.

He has a huge decision to make. But I do agree that I think he's gone. It looked like he was just killing time this year at UK and waiting for the draft.

I think he could be a lottery pick as is. Nobody plays much defense anyway in the NBA.

I heard a rumor that only Randle is leaving. I still don't believe it though.

I heard a rumor that we're losing seven players. Funny how rumors just appear out of nowhere.

I would take that bet of losing 7 players. No way that happens. The Lexington newscast says that Willie does indeed have a stress fracture and he is leaning heavily on returning for his junior season. I am pretty confident that Pothress and Johnson will also be back. That leaves 4 guys who are in doubt at this time and I really think the Harrisons will return. I just have a feeling that some of them do have the desire to win a championship.

It's funny the details about me hearing the rumor. A lady I work with has a son-in-law that works in the marketing department at the University of Tennessee. She told me that he has inside information (or something to that effect) and that we were losing seven players to the NBA. It's comical how people come up with these rumors.

Personally, I don't believe anything until it actually happens.

Read an article saying the twins felt like their skills are more suited for the NBA than college and they didn't really have a chance to showcase them at UK. The writer said he felt they were going to the NBA even though the writer felt it was a huge mistake. These kids get an idea of who they believe they are as players and ignore the evidence. Both twins had plenty of opportunities to "showcase" their skills and quite frankly neither is NBA ready IMO.

I would lean more towards the 7 rumor than the 1 rumor.

If I had to guess I would say this:

Randle - Yes
Young - Yes
An Harrison - Yes
Aa Harrison - Yes
WCS - Yes
Alex - Strong Maybe so I would say 65/35
Dakari - 55 Yes and 45 No.
Marcus Lee - 20% chance he throws his name in the mix.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

If the twins couldn't handle Napier and Boatright there is no way they are ready for the NBA.

I can see Young leaving. His terrible passing skills are something that can be overcome. But, his scoring ability is what will get him drafted.

I am not sure the twins get drafted in the first round. I am no NBA scout. But just don't see it. If the twins decided to go, I hope they make the first round.

Any talented big man that enters the draft early has chance to get drafted. I am wondering if Dakari will stay or go?

Still think Randle is the only definite. Young about 60-40 to go. After that I think the rest lean mostly to staying.
