Richard Pitino at Minnesota or Chris Collins at Northwestern? Both new coaches in B1G and both sons of famous father-coaches. What do you think?

My money is on Chris Collins. The kid is from the Chicago area and will be able to get some of the kids from that area to stay home. I think his style of play will be one that kids will be attracted to and will want to play.
Minnesota has proven that even with a very good coach, it is impossible to meet the expectations of their AD. I don't think the trend changes with Richard Pitino at the helm.

Although he's a Dook boy, I'll say Collins just because I don't like Pitino.
I met Collins a couple years ago in the Greater Cincinnati airport. I struck up the conversation and he talked back without hesitation. He was a really nice guy.

I dont' care for RP now that he's coaching UL, but don't sell his son short. He's probably plenty smart like his dad and will get some recruits based on his last name.
I think he will do OKAY at Minnesota, but against the rest of the Big 10, never in the top 3.

I live in Big Ten country and watch a ton of Big Ten basketball, not necessarily by choice but there's always a big Ten game on in season.
I think that Rickie Jr has a much better chance of turning their progam into a legit Big Ten contender than Collin's. I don't see either team turning into a National contender any time remotely soon.
I have no idea who is the best coach, motivator, recruiter etc. IMO, U Minn will be able to get better atheletes because of lower academic standards and they have better athetes on their current roster. The only advantage that I can see that Collins might have is his access to the Chicago atheletes but that has never helped Northwestern in the past.
