Kentucky would be good to secure the signatures of Amile Jefferson, 6-10, scored 26 pts in friday's Derby Classic and Alex Oriakki, the 6-9, senior to be from UConn, who can transfer and play immediately because of penalties aginst the Huskies. I'm not giving up on Mohammad and Noel, though this mornings revelations that Mohammad, may be a recruiting risk that we just don't need. While many glow when speaking of Nerlens Noel, I find it hard to imagine thatr he is anything like Anthony Davis, it would be unfair to compare him to AD, but that will be inevitable, especially if he signs with UK. Reports lately have been he is may be heavily leaning to Georgetown. This week will provide many of our answers. I can live with a lineup next season of;
Wiltjer Poythress Griffin Harrow Oriakki Jefferson
Depending on who you listen to, some say Deron Lamb, may return next year among all the other players. Davis, Jones and MKG, are considered as good as gone. Miller graduates. That leaves Teague and Lamb. Both had strong tournaments, Teague a point guard in a thin pg class is almost certain to go to the draft. Lamb, oddly enough may be the best chance to return next year. He would be a welcomed addition if he does.

Its not just recently that "rumors" have circulated about Mohammed and his recruitment.. There was a thread here a month or so ago suggesting the same thing...
Although I cannot find a link I know I read an article indicating that Mohammeds father was "shopping" his son to the highest bidder.. ala Cam Newton.....
Personally, I would pass on him...I really like theNerlens Hoel kid... and Anthony Bennett a huge 6'8" power forward to go with Goowin and Poythress and again... I Cannot WAIT to see Kyle "Long Rifle" Wiltjer next year...

Not getting Shabazz won't break my heart either. We've been treated to a championship - I think now I'm ready for some guys who are going to stick around for a while. And yes, the rumors about Shabazz really scare me. Do you think Cal really needs that?
As for Teague, I don't believe a thin PG draft would raise his stock. If I was an NBA GM and had to pick between a weak PG and a strong anyone else, I'd take anyone else. They can always deal players. Plus, being selfish, having Teague back would really make our team a lot better.

Earlier this week when Cal departed for recruiting trips, he said he was going to visit Noel, and may CANCEL a visit to see Mohammad, When I read that I asked myself why?. Begining to get the picture that we will not get Shabazz. Cal, more then any coach must stay clean and above reproach. Our enemies lie in wait around every corner!.

According to the ncaa it is ok to "shop" your son as long as he doesn know about it - i.e. Newton!

I could see Mohammed going to UCLA, but then something similar happening like what happened with Bush and USC in football. UCLA is a very desperate program right now.

I agree on Shabazz, I am still not convinced he would be a team player. I think we have too many Mickey D's for him.
From what I hear We will get Oriahki and Teague and Lamb will be back due to their low draft ranking (#24-25 or early 2nd round).
I also think Noel will be here if Oriahki is here. Noel is not the same type of player as Davis. Noel does have a great reach on defense but he will be a more center oriented player than Davis was. He can handle the ball pretty well from what I saw on that Hoops summitt.
I think Bennett and Jefferson are still more of long shots, but very attainable. As I posted elsewhere I think this would be a possible lineup for next season.
PG Teague SG Lamb SF Poythress PF Oriahki C Noel
PG Harrow SG Goodwin SF Wiltjer PF Bennett C Cauley
