I thought K was king of the whiners in the ACC but it has rubbed off on Ole Roy. Check this article out..

Williams blasted the recruiting process Wednesday.

“Recruiting, it stinks,” said Williams, who received a commitment Wednesday from Ed Davis, a 6-foot-8 senior from Benedictine School in Mechanicsville, Va., the No. 11-rated player in the country. “It’s demeaning. ... I love recruiting when I get there and get a chance to sit down and talk to a kid. I love recruiting when I get to a gym. I just hate the airplanes and rental cars. ...

“It’s a wacko experience. We have guys in the 9th and 10th grade who are trying to make commitments. For us, our admissions office doesn’t want us to take them, and it’s rightfully so. They say, ‘How can you say a kid can come to North Carolina when he hasn’t taken sophomore English?’’’

Williams blamed the “Internet people” for making recruiting even more difficult.

“I think one of the reasons kids are making decisions so early are because of the Internet people. We watched a game last week. As soon as the game was over, five different (Internet) people charged this kid to ask him about what went on during the game. The pressure doesn’t come from coaches anymore. The pressure comes from the guy who doesn't know if it’s the sun or moon that comes up in the middle of the day.”

I agree 100% with Ole Roy on this.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I have not come out and said it before but I do think recruiting is getting out of control. I still feel you need to start evaluating talent as far back as the sixth grade but you should not be getting committments before their Junior year at the earliest. Just my opinion. Lots of players develop their full game at an early age and some don't really develop until late in their high school careers. It is nice to see us having young players say they want to go to UK but it is non binding until they are in their senior season and actually sign.

I totally agree with Coach Williams on this issue and do not see this as whinning as much as revealing the truth. I think there is a difference between whinning and telling it like it is. In this case, no evidence of whinning in my book!

Coach Williams' comments disparaging the recruiting process is a classic case of "tell me where you sit before you tell me where you stand". And Ole Roy sits at or near the pinnacle of college basketball so it's easy for him to peer down from those oracular heights and demean the efforts of those who aspire to the mountain top. Comparative to Trump, Bloomberg, Schwarzman, Soros, et al complaining about those whose efforts they consider bourgeois. Put the "feel like the dickens" character in College Station, Lincoln, or even Raleigh, fighting to build a program and then see what his views are regarding the recruiting trenches. As we all can attest: elitism lives, nay flourishes, in Chapel Hill.
