Well we have another scholly to offer Pettigrew now.

Here is the note:

"Junior Randolph Morris has signed a contract with the New York Knicks of the NBA, ending his college career, the University of Kentucky announced today.

ESPN.com reported the he signed a two-year deal worth $1.6 million.

Morris, a 6-foot-11 center, averaged 16.1 points and 7.8 rebounds this season. He was eligible to sign with an NBA team because he declared for the 2005 NBA Draft and was not drafted.

Kentucky spokesman Scott Stricklin said athletic director Mitch Barnhart met with Morris late Thursday night and asked Morris to wait until a new coach was in place before deciding whether to leave.

Morris declared for the 2005 NBA draft following his freshman season, but went undrafted. He returned to the Wildcats after sitting out an NCAA-mandated 14-game suspension, averaging 13.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 21 games.

Morris said he “expected” to return to the Wildcats following the loss, but didn’t completely rule out leaving for the NBA.

A provision in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement prevented Morris from re-entering the NBA draft and he was given free agent status throughout the 2006-07 season."

I wonder if that last clause means that he would not have been a free agent if he had stayed for next season?

He would have been a free agent regardless. They were just saying that he could not enter the draft again this year or next.

If it is only $1.6M for two years, that is really cheap. He could have made at least $2M per year I would think if waited one more year. But I guess his family needed the money.

I wonder how many offers he got.

I read on another site that the $1.6M is for the rest of this season and next season, if so it's for less than two years.
