Serving as a tuneup for the annual Indiana-Kentucky All-Star games that will be played this weekend, the Indiana Senior All-Stars played the Indiana Junior All-Stars in an exhibition Wednesday night at Brownsburg High School. The All-Star series begins Friday night at the Owensboro Sportscenter before traveling to Southport High School on the southside of Indianapolis on Saturday.

Arguably the biggest name on the junior side, Jalen Washington, chose to sit out due to an ankle sprain that he is still nursing. The sprain will be reevaluated on June 16th and Washington hopes to be cleared for full activity after that doctor visit. Despite not getting to participate in the game, KSR still had the opportunity to talk with the 5-star forward out of Gary West Side High School after the event.

The 6’9″ Washington holds a myriad of offers from high-major programs around the country and KSR can now confirm that he has interest from the University of Kentucky though no offer has been extended yet.

Continuing a trend of several other high profile recruits around the country, Washington is hearing from Coach Chin Coleman after previously being recruited by Coleman at Illinois. Washington received an offer from the Illini and now says that Coleman “hits him up all the time” about Kentucky. He has not yet had the opportunity to speak with Coach Calipari, but maintains a very good relationship with Coach Coleman now that he is in Lexington.

The Gary native told KSR that he does hope to be able to take a visit, and eventually earn a scholarship offer, from the Wildcats though his summer schedule is very busy. Washington is fresh off of his first official visit to the University of North Carolina which he said was great. Now, this weekend, Washington will head out west to visit Stanford. Those are the only official visits scheduled at this time.
