We were 23-57 from the for 40%, 7-14 for 50% on our 3's and 17-20 from the line for 85%. That is what it's all about. Way to shoot the ball Cats....

Awfully good in the first half. Mintz didn't score a point in the second half and still ended up hitting three point shots!

What about all the layups and the 2 foot shots we missed again? With just 6 of those shots going in we could have had a pretty decent shooting % of 50%.

Looking at the big picture we rank 287th in the team shooting NCAA stats and shot 46.1% last season.

CMD I'm glad you brought up the percentages for all the schools. Just look at the easy shots we have missed from layups to 2 foot shots. If we had made just 5 of those easy ones in each of our 21 games that would be 105 more shots made on the same number of shots taken for a shooting % of exactly 50%. This would put us in 12th place right behind Michigan and we would probably be at least 14-7 overall now and be headed for the NCAA tourney.

What should this team practice on? I would say more concentration on making the easy, close up shots. After all the early season bad shooting percentages we had I think you can blame it just as much on the easy misses as the long range misses. That's a shame the coaches haven't mentioned that or maybe even thought of it. It's easy to blame a loss on your 3 point % but it takes a real coach to realize where he could have changed half his losses into wins by making these kids think about the easy ones they have missed. [Eek!]

Bama, many of those misses involved a lot of contact, with or without a foul being called. Yeah, a few were wide-open misses, but most of them you can see our player's body moving in an unnatural direction. [Smile]

Not an excuse, but it may be both a matter of focus AND strength.

Tip if a foul was called on a missed shot then the shot it isn't counted at all.

And what about the blocked shots? Over the last three games our opponent has blocked 16 shots. We've had our shot blocked 80 times this season.

Our guys keep falling back on high school play where they were tall enough that the opposition couldn't block their shot.

That's where good coaching comes in and as the season goes on improvement should be seen.
