Wasn't Steve guilty of scamming people out of UL season tickets or tickets to the Kentucky Derby or something like that? I wonder if this is what the background check revealed.

Paul, I think you are correct there and may very well be the issue that caused the deal to fall through. Wonder if this will keep him from getting other jobs?

Listening to ESPN this morning and what "I think" I heard was that it was inaccuracy's on his resume. Something to the effect that he graduated from UK when in fact he attended UK for 4 years but did not graduate. I was driving while listening to Mike and Mike and I believe that is what I heard but don't hold me to it. Seems pretty trivial to me if that is correct.

After word spread that former Cat Steve Masiello had accepted the job at South Florida, South Florida has now dropped the offer. Sources tell ESPN’s Brett McMurphy that Masiello’s offer was pulled because he never graduated from Kentucky, as he indicated on his resume, and Manhattan and Louisville official bios. A UK spokeswoman has confirmed this. It’s not clear if Masiello can return to Manhattan, especially in light of this news.

Here's an unusual twist to this entire thing is that Maseilo was a GRADUATE Assistant at UL! Now my question to you is was he taking grad classes while attending or just in title alone?

I know I wouldn't want anything to do with him if I was Manhattan. If you falsify a resume like he did how can you trust him being a leader of student athletes?

He's a hot commodity if he get's his schooling in line! SOmeone will take anothe rchance with him. Heck, if someone will give Bruce Pearl a second chance then Steve will get one too!

MH, Would you like to have Pearl or Masiello to coach the Cats? If Cal left? I think we could do better and find a coach with far better morals and most other schools would feel the same.

Did he intentionally lie, or was it a honest mistake, come on, this is minor, did Pitino know this when cigar man was at Ville? like Izzo, said too picky, this is nothing to keep a good coach from coaching. Izzo's word.

It is a major detail, because it costs him a million dollar contract. He comes off looking like a buffoon, for not having his info correct. He knew he didn't graduate. Guess he got away with it for other jobs and this was the first job that actually fact checked. That is like saying you are a little pregnant or kinda married. You either are or you aren't.

Yeah, but unlike falsifying whether or not you graduated, being a little pregnant or kinda married is a pretty big deal.
