It was a great win for the Ladycats and they are playing very good basketball.
Team Records and Series Notes Kentucky improves to 8-1, while Louisville falls to 8-1. Kentucky improves to 720-487 (61.2) all-time in 41 seasons of varsity women’s basketball and 187-89 (73.9) in the month of December. Matthew Mitchell is in his eighth season as the head coach of the Wildcats. He already ranks first on UK’s all-time wins list with 178 and winning percentage of .716. This was the 51st meeting between the programs since UK became a varsity sport in 1974-75. Kentucky now leads the all-time series 33-18 but trails 13-11 in games played in Louisville. UK has won the last four meetings, including two straight in Louisville.
UK is now 17-18 all-time against teams in the current alignment of the Atlantic Coast Conference. UK snapped Louisville’s 19-game winning streak vs. non-conference teams at home. Today’s attendance was 14,862. Next up: UK will face Middle Tennessee State at Memorial Coliseum on Friday night at 9 p.m. ET. The game will be shown on the SEC Network+.
Team/Game Notes Kentucky trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half. The comeback ties for the largest in the Matthew Mitchell era (vs. South Carolina, 2/14/13). It ties for the seventh-largest comeback win in program history. UK has now defeated two ranked opponents this season. UK also beat No. 8/9 Baylor on Nov. 17 in Rupp Arena, 74-64. UK is now 32-37 in the Mitchell era vs. ranked opponents, 14-21 vs. the top 10. Marked UK’s first win against a ranked opponent on the road since Feb. 23, 2014 vs. No. 16 Texas A&M. Marked UK’s first win over top 10 team on the road since upsetting No. 8 Tennessee (75-71) on Feb. 16, 2014. Kentucky is now 74-41 (.630) all-time in games decided by 10 points or less under Matthew Mitchell, including 4-1 this season. UK grabbed double-digit steals (12) for the second straight game and sixth time this season. UK shot 55.6 percent from the floor in the second half, including 2-of-3 from 3-point land. Kentucky had five players score in double figures. The last time that happened was Feb. 9, 2014 against Florida. Kentucky is now 4-1 against Louisville when the Cards are ranked in the AP poll. Kentucky forced 28 turnovers and has now forced 20 or more in eight of nine games this season. Outscored UL 27-13 in points off turnovers.
Individual Notes Junior Janee Thompson scored a season-high 19 points, leading all scorers. Scored 16 of her 19 points in the second half. Went 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Marked her fifth double-figure scoring game of the season.
Senior Jennifer O’Neill had 17 points and five rebounds in the game. Also had an assist, a block and a steal. Now has 1,115 career points and needs 31 more to tie her teammate Bria Goss for No. 22 all-time.

When you beat Louisville at anything it's a great victory. Glad to see the Ladycats come back in the second half and play so well.

Beating them down there is really special. It's difficult enough to win at home, but to win on the road is something else!

The Ladycats can flat out play and wouldn't surprise me if they make some noise in the NCAA tournament or should I say Geno Auriemma's tournament.

The girls have made 282 t/o's total this year which is 18.5 a game and rank 282 out of 350 division one teams. Not good!

That's why coach Mitchell told them last night that any turnover over 12 was going to be punished;. They had 11 last night!
