According to a release from the University of Georgia (UGA) Athletics Department, two football players have been suspended by head coach Mark Richt for the Bulldogs’ game this Saturday against the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

The players have been identified as Natrez Patrick and Chauncey Rivers, both of whom are freshman. They were both were arrested on misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana charges early Wednesday morning.

“They made a very poor decision and I¹m extremely disappointed,” said Richt. “They will be disciplined in an appropriate manner and hopefully have learned a valuable life lesson that will benefit them moving forward.”

Patrick is a part time linebacker that sees limited duty and Rivers is on special teams and has made one tackle and in two minor appearances.

I believe marijuana and alcohol should be legal for anyone 18 years or older.

I am aware that marijuana is still illegal, mainly because the government and large pharmacutical companies can't control it.

I do think there is a big distinction between possession for personal use and a dealer who is making a huge profit. I do see it eventually becoming legal across the country, eventually. I expect Kentucky to be one of the last states to do so, since they still have a few dry counties that allow bootleggers to make money without paying taxes.

Prohibition is why organized crime became such a big business in the US in the first place.

And as for everyone up in arms about prostitution, I have never figured out why it is illegal to sell something that you are allowed to give away. Makes no sense to me.
