Hurrah! The Kentucky Senate Appropriation Committee has passed House Bill 7, which includes the projects put forth by the University of Kentucky, including renovations to Commonwealth Stadium and the Nutter Training Facility.

The committee did make one change to the bill, stating that UK is not allowed to raise tuition to fund the projects for Commonwealth Stadium.

UK should not be allowed to raise tuitions for the renovations. Good job by the committee.

UK athletics department will have no problem funding the expansion and renovations. The SEC is also scheduled to improve their financial situation with a new football media contract that could include a new SEC network.

As far as tuition increases go, they will go up every year, regardles of anything that happens with athletics. The "in-state" tuition is lower that "out of state" tuition and is offset by state funding ( if I am correct).

Alabama has a way better solution than Kentucky. The kids that graduate from Alabama high schools pay very little for in state education. I would like to see casinos at Kentucky race tracks that earmark the tax revenue specifically for higher education of in state " legal" residents of Kenucky. I am still amazed at how ignorant and blind the legislators out the commenwealth are.
