Granted or offense stunk but on the defensive side of the ball they stunk too. We gave up over 600 yards, 639 to be exact. South Carolina had 288 yards on the ground and 351 yards passing which got them 32 first downs and 54 Points. I don't know who played worse the offense or the defense but it's obvious we can't put the blame on just a couple of people as it takes a whole lot of bad play to put up numbers like this.

I posted on this site a couple of weeks ago that as bad as our offense was, I felt our defense was worse and nothing has occurred since then to change my mind. South Carolina is not a 600 yard offensive team, our defense is truly bad to give up that many yard to them, especially with them playing their second and third string quarterbacks the entire game.

We gave them a short field almost every possession, primarily due to our woeful offense. That, plus the fact that they had almost twice the time-of-possession as we had, meant they could use their superior running game -- for which we had NO answer -- to open up the passing game.

Classic football.

600+ yards is woeful I'll admit, but they were on the field for 91 plays the offense has to take some of the blame for that 6 first downs, the defense had to of been gased.

I agree our defense is awful also. Just because Guy is playing a linebacker doesnt make it better. I posted stats a while back that showed this years defense is worse that last years. Sat showed it in spades!

It is apparent that Joker made his many coaching changes to help recruiting but he seemed to have forgot that they also need to know how to "coach"!

I think Bardhart will get the message in two weeks when 30K fans show up to watch the J-state game since it seems he has his head buried in the sand!

This is not a good team team no doubt about it but good football teams are far and few between at Kentucky. It isn't like this is the first bad season we have had, we are no virgins that's for sure. What i can't figure out is our fan base, the great UK fans that are noted for their devotion to all their teams. Reading the posts this season is like reading the obitiuaries. This team needs all the help they can get and the fans act like they step on babby ducks for a pastime. It really hurts to read these posts and just hope that the players and coachs don't read them.

Since Kentucky has not lost fewer than 5 games in a season in 27 years i guess you can say we have had a lot of coachs that didn't know how to coach either. If you want to go back further than that we have not had one coach in the last 50 years that has had a winning record during their stay at Kentucky. I guess all those AD's had their head in the sand too. I know that isn't true as all those players, coachs and AD's did their best and sometimes that's about all you can ask.

I think it is fair to ask - upgrade the football program. Just because we have always had a bad program doesnt mean we should have to continue to have one.

Most Ky fans understand what it takes to have a team that can compete on the field. This team is one that can not. Whether we like it or not, the coach is responsible for the wins and the losses. We are an embarrassment thus far and me being in FL, I have to just keep my mouth shut when the FL people I know ask me " how about them wildcats". If we ALL don't feel the embarrassment then I don't know what else to say.

Yep, the inept offense has a lot to do with how bad the defense has played. Those guys are out there for nearly 45 of the 60 minutes game after game. I don't care if you have the Baltimore Ravens defense, if the offense constantly goes three and out (kind of like Baltimore's Offense did week 2 against the Titans) you are going to give up yards and points.

It is essentially how Auburn beat South Carolina two weeks ago. I think Auburn ran something like 86 plays to 40 for USC and the Gamecocks Defense was just gassed at the end of the game and Auburn went right down the field for the win. That is why Ole Ball Coach had to make the change at QB this week, because he saw how inept his offense was with Garcia and it was taking a toll on his defense as well.
