Imho, the punt returns are a negative for the Cats. What they have back there is a guy that will fair catch the ball. You don't want a guy with hands of stone, but you need a player that will make something happen.

Kick off returns are not great. They run it out of the endzone and fail to make it to the twenty. They should consider giving a freshman a chance for kick off return duty. I don't favor using freshman for punt returns, though, unless he had Cobb printed on the back of his jersey.

The punter is the best part of this season's special teams unit. His numbers may not look that great because he has had to rugby punt the ball a bunch of times, while running sideways inside his own endzone to avoid getting the ball batted back in his face.

I would give the return men a grade of D, so far this season.

I have to agree Boom. It hasn't been real pretty and we need our special teams to be "special" because we are definitely the least talented team to take the field in most of our games.
