Now that is a tough schedule and a very big reason why it's so hard for us to get 7 wins.

Looks like the Wildcats edged out the Hilltoppers by quintupling the amount of ranked opponents they will face in the upcoming football season. Kentucky will play 5 teams ranked the the coaches’ top 25 poll released today, while Western Kentucky will only square off against 1. Let’s look at how this plays out:

9/24 - #23 UF at UK

10/1 - UK at #4 LSU

10/8 - UK at #12 USC

10/29 - #20 MSU at UK

11/19 - UK at # 22 UGA

That gives the Cats three roads games and two home games with chances to chalk up wins against ranked teams. How many of those are winnable? Well, in theory, all of them, but winning at LSU and USC will be tough to pull off. A lot of folks are picking the UF home game as UK’s best chance to break the Gator-streak in a good while. MSU is beatable at Commonwealth, but for some reason the Cats always fudge up the game against those Bulldogs it seems. As for the other Bulldogs of UGA, that will be another tough road game but UK could pull it off. As always, nothing is impossible.

UK plays in the toughest conference. It is difficult to break into the top tier of winning teams inside the conference. Not only do they have to field top starters that can compete, but need back ups that can match up against the best, when starters get injured.

The best part is the revenue is huge foe the SEC teams. The dowwn side is that teams that play in chump conferences get to play in bowls by playing padding their record with cupcakes. Even independents have an advantage. Notre Dame had a 8-5 record last season and only played 5 tough teams.

boom, UK's schedule is one of the toughest in the country. We have been lucky to get into any bowl game with the schedule we have. Hopefully in the near future we can be a ranked team and more of the SEC teams will not like having to play us. Wouldn't that be a good feeling.

For as much as the Cats have improved in terms of talent and recruiting, the rest of the SEC gets stronger as well. SEC is hands down the toughest football conference in the country.
