I watched several Top 25 football games today, and saw bits and pieces of others. I have drawn one conclusion. There are a lot of top 10 teams out there that would be in deep doo-doo if they were in the SEC. Number one and number four would both have at least two losses by now, and maybe three! Just MHO.

Norm, the SEC had 9 teams in the top 25 recruiting class in 2011. This is not out of the ordinary as it happens every year. You get the best players you win the most games.. Like you might expect Vandy and Kentucky are not part of those 9 SEC teams. [Frown]

I realize that. What I am saying is, there are a lot of teams ranked, because they have few if any losses. IF they were in the SEC, they WOULD have those losses. If Kentucky was in the same league as Boise State, we'd probably have only one or two losses at the most!

I agree with Norm, that UK would win a ton more games in a different conference, but the SEC has the richest media contract out there. Football is what drove that price as high as it is. Now financial times are in a bit of a downturn, the other conferences can not get the same lucrative deal. I don't see UK ever leaving the conference and quite frankly don't think that they could afford to.

As far as the best players, the state of Kentucky is not Louisina, Georgia, or Florida, in terms of number of D1 recruits coming out of high school. That is why the rivalry with UL is so important, because the most D1 in state recruits are in the Louisville metro area.

Joker made staff changes, based on future recruiting sucess. It will be few years, before that is realized. You have to factor that the new guys coming in will not be impacting the team until 3 or 4 years down the road.

While UK has risen to respectability and now strives to reach the contender status, they have been fortunate to keep their coaches in the fold. With that said, will Joker be able to hold onto Randy Sanders and Tee Martin? I expect Sanders to take a head coaching job and Martin will leave for a OC job, if he is not elevated after Sanders leaves. Of all the coaches on Joker's staff, I think that MArtin is the star recruiter and the most important to keep on staff.
