We just don't have the horses to compete with most all SEC teams. Granted we do have a couple players on offense that have SEC talent but thats it. If we expect to be a factor in the SEC we will have to find a way to get a lot more 4 and 5 star athletes as there is no way we can compete in the SEC with the rosters we have had these past 20 years or longer. I realistically never expect to see UK beat FL the est of my lifetime.

IMO it is impossible to beat a team such as the Fl's of the world when we don't even attempt to put pressure on the QB. Our defense rushed 4 for most of the game and gave Brantley all the time in the world to pass to the middle of the field.
Then - once when FL ran the same play 4 times in a roll - (the one where the WR would move to the backfield and then the QB would give to a RB up the gut) and no on on the defense had a clue as to what was going on.
Then to allow the same person (freshman) run the wildcat the same way each time and score just shows me that our defensive coaches have not a clue as to how to stop a team like florida.
The only way IMO that we had a chance was to put pressure on their offense EACH play and we failed to do so and have ALWAYS played that way. A soft ZONE which may work against WKY but not the SEC.
I get so pumped up each year then have to watch this crap each year is pretty distressful..
Also we see how Hartline operates against a good team - I'm wondering if it's not time for the two youngsters? Any thoughts?
p.s I wonder how many "records" have been set against our team over the years. Including basketball seems like always one player has a "career" high for something! [ 09-26-2010, 10:23 AM: Message edited by: ukcatfannfl ]

I just think they didn't play very well on both sides of the ball. There are a lot more games left. They better shake it off and start playing better ball.

The defense showed no ability to adjust to what UF was doing. I have a hard time believing that our defensive players are less talented than Ohio U and USF, both of which played them far better than we did. I have absolutely no confidence that Steve Brown will make us an SEC defensive unit, regardless of talent.

Wasn't the score 21 to zip after an INT for a TD? The defense isn't the sole reason for the blow out.

No, the defense is not the sole reason for the blowput but EC is right, the defense made no adjustments whatsoever and as a result led to numerous open receivers in the middle of the field. They played as if Brandtly was going to beat them on the run every play when in reality he is slower than a snail. Our defense has to be the worst tackling team in the country, they have a hard time wrapping people up and making the tackle.
Hopefully they will re-group and take it to Ole Miss on Sat.
