He has come out and said he won't be the longest tenured football coach at UK, saying that a lot of his friends have died recently and he may look into retiring. The media is speculating it will this season or the next.

Ineresting thought but you have to wonder if the decision to make Joker the coach in waiting is a good thing? Obviously he is a hot property and good for recruiting but you don't know what other coaches may be interested in coming to UK when the job opens up.

Its half empty.half full I guess

It has taken UK a long time to build a program that goes to bowl games on a regular basis.

They had to get a football AD to make it happen. Yeah, he struck out on the basketball coach, but made it right with the Cal hire. The faact is that is a lot tougher to raise a football program for the depths of mediocrity, especially in the toughest conference.

Continuity is what allowed Brooks to build the program. If you look back on the lack of success that UK has had, it doesn't take long to see how many coaches that have tried and failed. Elevating Joker, keeps the continuity. I don't see a mass exodus of asst coaches leaving, when Brooks steps down. The one coach that I expect to leave is Sanders, for a head coaching job.

Continuity and Brooks has done a lot for the program along with the much better recruting we have done since Joker has taken over. Joker deserves his shot as he has been a "big" part of the turn-around.

We have a good thing going but we have a ways to go yet. Joker is the man that can continue to help get us to where we want to be and that is being a force in the SEC and even possibly winning the SEC in the future.
