It would be a huge addition if we can get Lewis..

Kentucky could have two key factors on its side as it tries to entice four-star receiver Dyjuan Lewis of Indianapolis to become a Wildcat.

First, the Wildcats were one of the first schools to offer him a scholarship - and he says he liked that a lot - when he was a sophomore at Pike High School. That helped Kentucky make Lewis' final eight schools along with South Carolina, Oregon, Cincinnati, Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois and Missouri.

Second, former teammate Dakotah Tyler is a freshman running back at Kentucky now, and last year's Indiana Mr. Football - quarterback Morgan Newton of Indianapolis - is also at UK.

"Me and Dakotah were teammates for two years, so I want to find out a lot about Kentucky from him," Lewis said Friday. "I know Morgan Newton a little, but I do know he is a very good player. He's the kind of quarterback I would like to have throwing the ball to me."

His mother, Gwennta, has other priorities for her 6-3, 195-pound son who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds.

"With him being my only child, I am really looking at the coaching staff. I want a comfort level for myself even though the decision is ultimately up to him," she said. "I would definitely like to be able to see him play. I don't want to miss games. But it's more important that he goes where I know the coaching staff will take care of him."

She said they recently had a "comfortable" visit to Kentucky that helped convince her academics were a viable part of coach Rich Brooks' program. She recently earned her Master's degree and says a quality education for her son is important.
