When Aaron Boyd decided to stay in Lexington and play football at Kentucky, he expected to have a banner freshman season.

The Henry Clay product thought he could be a big-play receiver for the Wildcats in his first season. Instead, he got mononucleosis before the season started, struggled with his routes and blocking, and made only five catches for 46 yards in the 11 games he played.

"But nobody is giving up on Aaron Boyd," said UK offensive coordinator Joker Phillips. "It's not easy for freshmen in this league and he's learned what he needs to do to be a better player. However, he's got talent. No one doubts that."
