From the gators perspective:

Florida coach Urban Meyer wants to make it clear that Saturday’s game against Kentucky is no trap game.

The fifth-ranked Gators (5-1, 3-1 SEC) might have Georgia in just over a week, but Meyer said after Thursday’s practice that it hasn’t been hard for his team to get motivated to play the Wildcats.

“What really makes it easy is you watch the tape and they’re really good,” Meyer said of preparing for Kentucky. “You can cheerlead all you want, but you flip on the tape and you recognize that they’re (talented).

“Coach (Rich) Brooks made the comment that it’s the best defense they’ve ever had at Kentucky, possibly. Statistically it says that and personnel says that. They’re doing very well.”

Meyer has praised Kentucky’s defense all week for its ability to keep opponents out of the end zone. The Wildcats rank first in the SEC, allowing 11.9 points per game.

Kentucky is also third in the conference in pass defense (155.7 yards a game).

Florida enters arguable the toughest part of its season these next few weeks.

After Kentucky, the Gators travel to Jacksonville to face No. 9 Georgia and then head to Nashville to play Vanderbilt. Florida then returns home to meet South Carolina, who currently ranks No.1 in total defense in the SEC.

I understand that this is coach-speak (or possibly, homer sportswriter speak), but this sentence just strikes me as something from an alternate universe:

Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina make for 3/4th of the toughest part of their schedule? [Eek!]

If this had not been a bye week for Florida, I would say that they might be looking ahead to Georgia. But having the week off, they are concentrated on UK.

UK will have to control the clock to win this game. Keep Florida's offense on the sidelines as much as possible.
