It's up and running. Better than Brooks I suppose.

That's silly. I don't blame Coach Phillips for this. I guess one could make an argument that he should have used Mike Hartline more last year to get him ready for this year, but even then I don't know when you would have used him.

I do think Coach Brooks and Coach Phillips have to seriously consider using Randall Cobb as the starter next week to get some kind of momentum going.

IMO, Hartline is not the main problem on offense. Granted he is not the greatest QB but our receivers have to take most of the blame. Other than Lyons, it seems that none of them can catch a ball.

L-ville cat I agree with you - some bad passes by hartline but also a lot of misses by our receivers. Our offense is in bad shape right now and I really thought it would get much better by six games in the season..

Looks like we "got what we got" and if the defense cant perform super great each week we are in trb.!

I just can't believe someone would ever be so stupid to start a website to fire a coach. I guess it isn't the first coach we have done this to.

Can you imagine the recruiting tool other schools will have now when recruting against us. All they have to do is pull the website up and show the recruits what the Kentucky fans do to their coachs even when they are winning.

catmandoo, EVEN WHEN WE ARE WINNING??? WE LOST. I agree with your comments but don't make irrational fools out of all of us... There is no excuse for the loss to USC, none.

I don't know who called it Joker or Brooks, but the onside kick to begin the 2nd half in a game that you have the lead/momentum in was the MOST IGNORANT THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN ALL MY YEARS WATCHING FOOTBALL.

Its not all Hartline's fault its an offense full of inexperience and obv. fans believe they are better than they actaully are... Theres a reason were unranked [Roll Eyes]

UK Football is the most frustrating thing to watch, I'm really considering not watching the rest of the season!

No offense guys but this talk of Brroks and Phillips needing to be fired is kinda reactionary don't you think. I mean UK has seen more success in the last 3 season than it has in the previous 20. Bill Snyder took 10 years to build K-State, Beamer took over a decade to get VT were they were. One of the biggest problems we have had at USC is that we haven't had consistency in coaching for more than about 5 years.

If the onside kick works then people will talk about it being a great call. If the coaches catch something watching the game-like SC kickoff return team is dropping quickly and/or turning their heads then its a good attempt, and according to the announcers it was going to work.
At what point do we stop saying these receivers are inexperienced-even just a couple of them should be able to start reading defenses and understanding what they need to do (which is one reason I've been wanting Grinter to be more involved. He is not only an athletic receiver but also has the experience). If you are sub-par at receiver and sub-par at QB then your going to have to come up with differend designs on offense and find other ways to compete and win in this league. We were lucky this game wasn't more to the tune of 41-17. I like our chances to bounce back and get a win next week. We'll see!

Yeah, it's mostly frustration coming out. Frustration because the defense is making plays and giving the offense opportunity after opportunity and the offense is stuck in the mud.

The O-Line played pretty fair yesterday. I think Hartline might have got sacked once and hit a couple of times but mostly he had time to throw the ball. He's really rushing his passes and that's why a lot of the passes are high. However, the passes he does throw on a line seem to have a problem being caught by anyone not named Dickey Lyons. UK misses Woodson and company big time.

However, that doesn't mean that the coaches don't share part of the blame as well. The good part about a game like this is that it really shows the areas that need to be worked on specifically; much more than a Norfolk State will tell you.

If UK catches half the passes that they dropped yesterday, this game turns out differently. I'm not saying that they would have won or lost, but it probably would have been overtime. UK's defense was on the field way to much in the 4th quarter. They would get a stop on USC then the offense would go 3-and-out and not give the defense a chance to catch their breath.

I think Brooks and Joker are doing the best job they can do with what they have to work with. Fans want the offense to throw the ball down the field but if we don't have anyone that can catch the ball other than the double covered Dickey Lyons, what can you do?

Next season we will have two great QB prospects coming in. Now, we need to go out and get some receivers.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying in anyway shape or form that I think Joker or Brooks should be fired or even talk about firing either one of them... All I'm saying there is nothing anyone at the TCD can say to convince me that the onside kick was a good play call. And if the announcers thought it would work, guess what they were wrong!

If Pulley had stayed out of trouble, all this talk of an ineffective OC and head coach would be nonexistent. They have 2 highly regarded QBs coming in next year. As for the onside kick, the lack of execution is what made it look so bad. They will not get that kind of suprise opportunity the rest of the season.

Hartline can't hit the target on the deep ball and isn't that sharp on the short to medium throws. He doesn't run, when the opening is there. Cob still has a tender ankle, he was limping at the end of the last game. The young receivers are still dropping passes. As for the running game, teams are now saying, beat us with the pass, because we are stopping the run. Imho, Cobb needs to split time at QB, notonly to give the team a spark but also to spark Hartline, who seems to be playing not to lose instead of playing to win. A benching would do him good.

FWIW, I agree with you about the kick. Wrong decision, regardless of who made it.

The onside kick was a dumb call....period! We need to cut out the bullcrap and start working on being successful making a routine play without fouling up. We need to block, tackle, throw, catch, and kick. Forget the tricks and do the basics well and we will be successful. Hartline needs to put the ball on target because our receivers can only catch about fifty percent of the balls that hit them in the numbers. Our kicking game needs to get through a game without blowing up in our face. We need to quit giving up first downs when we have the other team in third and long (third and 20 scares the hell out of me). Trick plays rarely work but strong fundamental football always works!

Any talk of firejoker.com is stupid. He is our next head coach and a heck of a recruiter. Gee, when Andre was making plays on the same "Joker" calls, it looked pretty sweet and ingenious (see Louisville 2007).

Every one of you knew we had tons of talent on offense to replace, and now Dicky's gone. Be patient, and none of this nonsense that hurts recruiting. I thought these board members knew better.
