We are a decided underdog, which way would you go, take the points or not?

Call me crazy, but I think we win Saturday or lose by 4.

I just can't see UK getting enough offensive production to win the game. As a matter of fact, I am hoping that Big Blue can keep the game close. I hope that I am dead wrong on this issue. Imho, a win over Bama, this season, would be a bigger upset than the win over LSU last year.

While I would love for the Cats to win, at this point, I am just hoping for respectability. The injuries are beginning to pile up and while we have more depth that we did a few years ago, they are not nearly deep enough to compete with Alabama, if Bama plays like they did Saturday night. Thus, respectability is the goal this weekend.

I expect UK to win, and nothing else.

I don't care if UK wins the game 3-2 (a la Auburn/LSU) or if they take them to the woodshed and win 56-0. I just expect UK to win. We've come to far to accept moral victories as being enough.

Reality: But not far enough yet.

If I were in Vegas I would jump all over that line. I think Bama will cover that easily. UK just doesn't move the ball well enough on offense right now to compete with Bama.

UK's skill positions are just not up to snuff with SEC defenses IMO. It is very hard to replace a Woodson/Burton/Johnson/Little/Tamme in one year.

While I agree with you Trey, on teh offensive side of the ball. Our defense and our special teams ala, kickers and return specialists I think we can make it a close game!! Has anyone else noticed that we've played a petty base defense all season long so far. Notheing tricky, nothign special, just line up man-to-man and go after it. I think that'll change this weekend !

hamilton-I would agree with you, but it's the defense that is getting banged up and where we are getting thinner.

We are real thin in a lot of key positions. It's like skating on thin ice and a couple more key injuries could and would spell disaster to the whole season. Time to cross our fingers..

The days of going out and "just keep it respectable" are over and they were over with back-to-back bowl wins. UK has moved into the next level where they must expect to win every game even if the expectation is nearly unreachable.

If UK goes out there and loses a game, fine. But if they lose a game because they didn't think they could win, that's inexcusable in every aspect.

I expect them to win and UK should expect to win as well and then they need to go out and prove it.

The timing couldnt be better for us in terms of the schedule...catching Bama after a road win against the highly ranked dawgs and then going home to face Kentucky.....

Their strength appears to me to be their offensive line and run blocking....ours is our defensive line. They're strength is stronger than our strength...BUT, we can put another defender in the box and make the QB beat us, and I'm not so convinced he can....I don't believe their offensive line is better than our defensive line when they have to pass block, especially in passing situations, If our special teams play well and we don't turn it over we will keep it close ... and anything can happen if its a game in the fourth quarter...Go Cats!

well i think everyone here is hoping for an upset and i can see it happening (see LSU last year) but i do wonder if we can move the ball up the field and score on a super athletic defense in bama's. I think Mike Hartline has some good experience now, so if the recievers can catch the dang ball i think we will atleast keep it within 14, and maybe a win i hope the best (win haha)

We all know it's going to be a bad day at black rock but all want the cats to play hard and don't give up..If we get that out of this young team most of us will be happy campers..I know will be..

I don't think so. I think UK will be just fine. We haven't seen but a very basic offensive and defensive set from UK over the past 4 games. Maybe they have a lot more in the arsenal.

I would be great if they were just sandbagging us the last 4 games and they came out and just blasted Bama.

But in all seriousness, I think UK will be right there with Bama the whole way and squeek out a win in the 4th quarter.

I hate to say it ,but i think the tide will roll playing at home. I think there defense will score more than once for them. I hope I am wrong. (definatly not the first time!)

I like the passion that you guys show for UK football but the reality is we do not have a chance in hell at Bama this weekend.
16.5 points for UK is not enough. I will be surprised if we even score more than 10.

Bama 38
UK 10

I think we are over-matched as we just don't have the number of quality athletes that Alabama has and having to play them at their house doesn't help either..Alabama 45 Kentucky 7...

I don't think Bama has the offense to put 45 on anyone. I think their game against Georgia was their "money shot" and they will be fighting to win games the rest of the way. No more blowouts for Bama.

UK matches up well against Bama's offense. Bama is going to have to throw the ball in order to beat UK.

I can understand not getting your hopes up. But, I really think this will be a close game from start to finish.

Reality ALA 24-13
my hope UK 20-17 (it could happen [Smile] )

To be honest, it is going to be ugly. Hate to be pessimistic, but it is realistic. Bama 35 Cats 3. Our defense will be ok first half but they will pull away when our D gets frustrated with no offense.

Given the lack of a real SEC-like foe on our schedule thus far, this is a very tough game to figure out.

Defensively, we should be competitive. But, given that 'Bama is putting up 37 ppg against SEC teams, we will do well to hold them to under 20.

Offensively, we are improving, but still woeful in many respects. We finally got something resembling a running game going against WKU, but the 'Bama defensive line could win a super bowl for you. Running the ball up the gut against THOSE guys isn't going to happen (their nose guard is 6'5" and weighs 365lbs [Eek!] ). Our passing game is wholly dependent upon two or more receivers not named "Dicky" catching balls and making blocks -- something that just hasn't happened yet, and playing in front of 90,000+ crazed 'Bama fans isn't the most likely place to discover good hands...

Special teams should help us, but they in no way will win this game for us.

My head tells me 'Bama 35 UK 9. My heart says 'Bama 17 UK 20.

BTW, being an alumnus of Elizabethtown High, I will be keenly watching Zip Duncan face off against his classmate/teammate who starts at DE for 'Bama. Old teammates playing against each other for keeps -- there will be blood on the field!

I think special teams will hurt us. They have Javier Arenas, one of the best punt returners in the country. Gilbert arenas' cousin.

Bama 28 UK 3 or 10, UK's offense is bad.....

Brandon you are looking completely blue tinted on this one which is okay it is a UK website... [Wink]

By the way I was in the Swamp for the UF loss to Ole Miss 31-30, it was neat, had good seats.. I would put that loss on Urban Meyer not Tim Tebow, but thats just me, and Tebow has really started to play like a QB instead of a fullback, his line is bad...

He has made some low throws, but thats so the ball is not intercepted, its wither caught or incomplete, saw a Stat where Tebow is 0-5 when trailing at any time in the second half, thats not good!!!!!!!

TK, not to mention that Ole Miss is not too bad...
Glad we dont have them on the schedule this year!

UK's "D" is for real. Unfortunately, so is the offense ("real"ly bad). What is up with hartline fumbling the ball? So frustrating. Proud of the "D" for keeping us in the game. Go Cats, beat SC!

Well, I hate to say I told you so but...

I won't say it...

This game played out exactly like I thought it would. Granted, I didn't think Hartline would drop the ball on his own goal line, but those are the breaks I suppose.

I really didn't think the scores would get above 20 and they didn't. Alabama probably should have put 30 points on the board but I just had a feeling that they were in their heads after the Georgia win and UK would have a chance to sneak in and steal one from Bama.

It was a good effort from the Cats. Not great, but not terrible either. On to South Carolina.

I'm with you Brandon - looks like you and me were the only ones that thought we would play them tough. Guess it boils down to the posters remembering the old days and not believing the Brooks - brown - phillips team can get it done.

Now looks like vandy is better than SC and Ark. We will win those two and the other teams better watch out for us once the offense gets a little better and nno doubt the defense comes to play each game!! Looking good for the cats!!
