As I see it, two more opportunities/justifications to rush the field: victories over UF and UT. So why not just put a dollar surcharge on each ticket for those games? Pay the $100,000 fines and show a profit.

SEC Associate Commissioner Charles Bloom noted that the intent of the ban was to provide a safe environment for players, officials, cheerleaders and administrators.

When asked about the "pent-up passion" of UK football fans, Bloom said that all 12 league schools voted for the ban. The SEC has levied a fine each and every time fans have charged out of the stands in celebration.

Barnhart expressed reservations about the fines acting as an effective deterrent. "I'm not sure the financial piece is enough to scare anybody from coming on the court or the field, if the passion's there," he said.

Bloom suggested that publicity generated by fines inhibited rowdy fans.

Does this Bloom guy live on our planet? If the money for the fines doesn't come out of the fans pockets, the fans aren't going to care about the fines. In fact, as was pointed out in the article, some fans will even donate money to cover the costs of the fines.

I can understand there being a safety concern, but administering fines isn't going to deter the excited fan from letting that excitement show.

Hell, I wish I had the money that every time the fans rushed the field after defeating a team like a LSU or Florida or Tennessee I would personally send the 50,000 to cover the fine.

Safety and peace be with you always.

That is what I was going to say. I think that even if the fans were the ones that had to pay the fines, they would still rush the field just because it has been that long for us to have a reason to storm it.

You know there has to be more than 1 person in that crowd that would gladly pay the fine by their self.
