It makes one wonder how a young man with so much talent and opportunity can ruin it by doing such a hideous thing.
University of Kentucky football signee Duran Wayne Jefferson, who was scheduled to graduate from Holmes High School last night, was charged yesterday with breaking into the home of a former Holmes assistant basketball coach and stealing seven guns.
Jefferson was being investigated for another crime yesterday morning when police recovered some of the guns stolen in Monday's break-in at Steve Marshall's home, Covington Police Department Lt. Col. Spike Jones said.
Jefferson, 19, made his initial appearance in Kenton District Court and was charged with first-degree burglary, a felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison. He remained in jail last night in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
